Now for a boast...
An article by the CIMA professor Wim Van der Stede has come top in IFAC's Articles of Merit 2009. “Enterprise Governance” was chosen as the best article published in 2009 for Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) by the member bodies of IFAC, the International Federation of Accountants. First published in CIMA's Financial Management magazine, the article challenges conventional business thinking, arguing that businesses should be more circumspect during a boom and be better prepared to take risks under harsh conditions.
And the good news doesn't stop there. Two other CIMA articles made the shortlist of ten. That's pretty good going. My colleague and fellow blogger, Louise Ross, got the nod for her article 'Look to the future' which takes a close look at the risks and opportunities presented by the social networking revolution enabled by Web 2.0 technology. And secondly, 'Becoming a Key Player in Shared Services', an article by Ian Herbert and Will Seal from CIMA's Insight e-magazine explains how management accountants can be crucial participants in shared service centres—if they can adopt an outward facing role at the nexus of information flows.
You can see all the articles in IFAC's publication, also called Articles of Merit or else you can download them individually.
The best reward for us though is that such awards give CIMA's reputation (and in turn, your professional reputation) a great boost.
