Next week I’m off to Copenhagen for the Olympic Congress, so my next post will be from the Land of herring and I’m not sure what else.
It looks like a beautiful country and I plan on visiting my alma mater cell phone maker in Finland while in the region and hopfully pop into Hamlets castle to understand what Bill was ranting about.
The last congress was held in 1995 so the topic of the digital revolution has a thing or two to catch up on, if we think back to 1995 the internet was for geeks, cell phones for tycoons and laptops looked like Michael Jordan’s shoe box.
Wrapping up the single digits of the 21st century it’s incredible to realize how advanced we’ve become without actually noticing it.
I’m anticipating a strong focus at the Congress on the applications of digital media and the internet but I want to focus on my niche of those barely noticeable few billions without iPods in the developing world.
As part of my research I’ve come across amazing applications targeting this base of the pyramid market, providing services such as education, weather forecasts, farming advice, health warnings, wellness information, news, election information, commodity prices, traffic updates and employment opportunities.
Fortunately the technology and infrastructure necessary for dissemination of information to assist in the above already exists and the Copenhagen Mobile Marketing Method (C3m) is on track to achieve international adoption.
I’m looking forward to discussing these issues with a diverse international crowd and it will be fascinating to network in a completely different environment. From sunny South Africa to Scandinavian Sukkot it’s going to be an interesting trip.
