The dog ate my homework 2.0

Today was one of those days again, you know the kind of day that you wake up with a solid game plan, everything is mapped out, you know that when you get back from work it’s going to be a rapid intake of supper and then off to hit those CIMA text books again.

You’re psyched, your motivated, you’re focused, you know you have to knuckle down because exams are creeping nearer and nearer, but that’s OK, because This week you’re going to cover some major ground. Brush those teeth, spill coffee on your sleeve, almost spot clean it and you’re off…Today’s mission: “to change the world one management report at a time!”

Fast forward to 18:30, you’re home, you know this because all the letters you just shoved in your mouth whilst balancing your laptop and the salad ingredients your wife text you to bring home have your name on them (as too do the bills inside).

You have some faint recollection about needing to do something when you get home, but you assume it will hopefully go away with your headache which has been hanging around since that exhilarating 2 hour meeting discussing a matter you never quite identified.

In you step, what’s that smell?

Where’s my spaniel, slippers, cognac and economist? OK, the smell is fish night, but where’s my adoring wife?

Honey, I’m home…honey, sweetie, pookie, JOANNE? What do you mean she’s not back yet?!

That’s alright my true joy in arriving home is seeing my little girl, whose finally stopped calling both me and the pot plant “dada”. Hello my little princess what’s that you are eating? And you’re so generous feeding the floor and couch as well, that’s my girl.

And then I cast my gaze upon the pumpkin coloured pile of papers precariously bound together with a piece or sticky Hake, I recognize them,  and upon closer inspection I realize that somebody left my study materials in arms reach of the babies feeding chair , an amateur mistake indeed, it could have happened to anyone. Alas, I guess today was my turn.

After successfully scouring my notes I begin the studying process, after a while I start getting used to the furry feeling they have, it gives a papyrus like feel to them.

This is fascinating stuff, I never realized tax could be such fun… but look at the time, I guess tomorrow will have to be my power study day, so until then you’ll have to remain in suspense to find out more about the intrepid wonderings  of a management accountant.
