Best of breed isn’t an option. It’s an imperative – for you and for your organization.
As I have described in the first two articles in the Becoming Best of Breed series, you, first, have to focus on your skills (Insight, June 2010), so that you can create the environment you and your organization need to succeed.
Then, by quantifying best of breed and not treating it as a ‘nice to have’ or some amorphous goal, you lead your organization to the pole position in your industry. Possibly the world (Insight, July 2010).
Now, in the third and final part (link coming next week!), the focus is on using best of breed as a developmental tool. From hiring to training to loyalty, there is a different view of quantification that you can bring that will lead to quantum leaps in your organization’s development and success. Your people’s too.
My great hope is that this series of article has motivated you to take a different think – and some different actions – in your organization.
The given is you can be best of breed. The question is: Will you?
I look forward to any comments or questions you might have. As well, there is more information on how to become Best of Breed in the customized CIMA Edition of my Executive Field Guide, Becoming a Best of Breed Organization.
