3 weeks to go until the exams start! How did that happen?

Well I hope you all had a relaxing Easter bank holiday and the Royal wedding celebrations.

Due to the many bank holidays I managed to get the magical (and much talked about) 11 days off work with only 3 days taken from my holiday entitlement!!

My boss only agreed to this wonderful arrangement though on the basis that I would spend a good deal of my time off preparing for the upcoming exams. The reason being that yesterday I started my two week revision course – and so she won’t be seeing me in the office until May 16th!

I did indeed fulfil my end of the bargain, spending at least some time every day on my studies, I did also watch a bit of the Royal wedding – and loved the fact that the minor royals arrived in ‘mini coaches’ – see they are just like the rest of us really!

So, now the hard work starts (not that it wasn’t hard before) and I will be practicing exam questions and revising some of the more complicated elements until I start dreaming about F2 and E2!

I think I have mentioned before that I much prefer F2 – there are a clear (well sometimes!) set of rules and as long as you follow the rules, it should be relatively straightforward. E2 is a real struggle for me as there are seemingly not that many ‘right answers’.

I am still trying to find good practical examples of ‘application’ as the model answers quite often deal with the theory aspects well and don’t necessarily seem to ‘apply’ that much – possibly due to the fact that examples may become dated quite quickly?

Well better get some sleep otherwise I won’t be ready for F2 tomorrow….in case I don’t update again – good luck to you all with your exams and keep your fingers crossed for me and E2!

good luck and a Q

Lizzi,

Good luck!! Well done on the 11 day break. I have to admit even as a republican i'd struggle to revise over watching daytime tv with the royal wedding...

I do have one question I'm really intrigued to know the answer to. Obvioulsy you agreed with CIMA to do some blogging and I think thats great to engage students.

I wonder however what are the terms of your agreement if you fail an exam (in no way implying you will btw!) I was just thinking its rough if you fail and then have to come and do a blog posting. Are you obliged to do that? How often are you obliged to write an update?

just intrigued! Brian

p.s. is it s the atrategics if you pass these two exams? i'm afraid my knowledge of the new syllabus is weak...

F1 and F2

I'm writing F1 and F2. Worried about interpretation of financial statemenbts and consolidated financials!

Hi Brian, Firstly, it is not a condition of the blog to post my results - I do so by choice :) And if I do happen to fail one I would still continue to do so. Ideally I would blog a couple of times a month, that hasn't always been the case though, so if anyone has any suggestions for topics please let me know! Finally, yes if I pass these two I will attempt strategic in November. Not sure if that is good or bad ;)
