Post economic crisis: key skills to emerge after the economic meltdown

As the European Union & IDC point out in the ‘Europe : Skills & Sustainability Growth for 21st Century’ report sponsored by Microsoft, two extremely important facts emerge from the findings.

1. In general, all countries in Europe need to invest significant Financial resources and Human Capital in the next five to ten years to develop Science & Mathematics skills in youngsters as it has deteriorated significantly.

2. The other fact that emerges from EU's Knowledge Capital leaders: in the next five to ten years, 90% of vacancies will require Information Technology skills as basic. That's 90% leaving only 10% that do not require knowledge of Information Technology.

The findings, which we all can connect to, as it always been known across UK, due to a wider debate in academia & Business community, that Mathematics and Science skills are not as strong as they were ten, twenty years ago and that it has been relaxed way too much to meet education targets.

Dr Eva Udden Sonnegard, the Swedish State Secretary, presented a strong case for Europe to raise to the top and to nurture and develop Information skills. The report can be downloaded in PDF format below.
