Time is very short now – before you know it you’ll be waiting outside the exam hall! I posted a few weeks ago about study planning, but let’s look at some ways you can maximise your study time over the next two weeks.
Only got 5 minutes to spare? Finish reading this post, and then download the resource maps relevant to your next exams. You can come back to these later – but don’t leave it too long.
Got 15 minutes to spare? Fill in the study planner I’ve attached below.
30 minutes? Print out some of our articles, or read through Financial Management magazine’s ‘Study Notes’ section. There are recent articles for every paper – see my technical articles post.
45 minutes? How about some question practice? You could work through a 25 mark question, two 10-mark questions, five 5-mark questions... I posted last week about where to find relevant questions. If you’re sitting T4, why not practice your prioritisation on an older case? Read through the pre-seen and unseen material of an old case, then give yourself 10 minutes to prioritise the issues.
1 hour? Now we’re talking! This is easily enough time to get through a couple of 10-mark questions, and check them carefully against the examiner’s answers. T4 sitters can practice their calculations on a past case – 15 minutes, plus reading time.
2 hours? Ever sat half a mock exam? Try it! 10 minutes reading time and 90 minutes exam time, for 50 marks. That’s sections A+B, or section C at operational level; sections A or B at management and strategic. For T4, you could write up discussions, recommendations and ethical issues for a past case.
3 hours? Find an extra 20 minutes from somewhere and you can sit a full mock exam – by far the best way to practice. Use one of the past exam papers if possible – and if you’re sitting T4 try to get hold of some mocks based on the Papy case. I’ve noticed some free mocks mentioned on the T4 discussion board.
As with all question practice, you should always check your answer carefully against the examiner’s answers and post exam guide. (linked from the resource map for each exam). This is time-consuming, but will really help you understand what the examiner is looking for.
Good luck with your revision!
