CIMA Careers in UAE (Dubai, Qatar etc)

Hi everyone,

I am currently a CIMA student in the UK and was wondering if anybody could shed some light on CIMA qualified career prospects in the United Arab Emirates, in countries like Dubai.

Is CIMA a recognised qualification over there or is the CPA preferred? I don't know much about the CPA but have seen it in job adverts.

well they recently opened a office in dubai, so something must be growing there, and theres plenty of uae students around

I am from Dubai and Waiting result for the TOPCIMA. In UAE According to me in UAE CPA come first then , CMA, then Indian CA and CIMA, then ACCA. It all depends on the mangement of the organisation. An organisation managed by Asians prefer CA's but an organisation managed by Europeans prefer CIMA and Americans prefer CPA. Even though CIMA recently opened an office in Dubai they are not very active. there is no networking of FCMA's and CIMA students happening here. Hope things will change soon

It always helps to hear from people living in the actual country. I just thought i'd ask, since careers in Dubai seem to be hot talk here in London as more people fall into unemployment because of the current economic climate. I guess Dubai appeals alot more for investment banking related careers. Oh well. My heart remains attached to a career in the uk for now.
