CIMA Salary Survey

In the global CIMA salary survey, 1 in 5 students said they intended to move abroad in the next 12 months. Have you thought about emigrating? If so, where are you intending to go and how do you feel your CIMA qualification will serve you in that particular job market?

What country?

As an international student from Asia here in London, I am open to explore career in any country where in I can most utilize, develop, and apply my management accounting, business, and economics knowledge.

I am willing to work in Middle East or China (maybe for a few years) if the price and the job description is right.

I am an international student and I am not afraid to become an international worker, I mean management accountant or business analyst. :p

International Mobility

Being a CIMA passed Finalist and working as a consultant in Ernst and Young here in Pakistan, I would definitely prefer working abroad in about 2 years time but My choice would be emerging markets like Australia, Canada or Ireland. I believe countries like the UK or US are highly saturated and very difficult to enter into.

Broadening the mind

Being in a global role myself I think travel does broaden the mind and helps you to understand different cultures politics and issues. I would recommend a couple of years abroad to anyone.

In Pakistan

I also want to move in Australia and Ireland. But unfortunately i don't have any practical experience searching for Job in Karachi. I am CIMA Managerial level passed and CA-Inter from ICAP. Going to attempt strategic level papers in this May 2009.

In the UK

I have been tempted to move and Canada or South Africa would be likely destinations. Career development is proving to be difficult here in the UK. Smaller countries and developing markets are also be ideal destinations

Mobility

I will always tempted to move to UK, Australia and USA but for a temporary period in the market where there is huge reccesion in the market , i prefer to move in the market like Middle East or Singapore. Well its my personal opnion and right know getting the work permit of the UK, Australia and USA is preety difficult at these stage.Thats why has to prefer country like Middle east.

Malaysia accountants' job market conditions

Dear All, In Malaysia, generally speaking, our job market for local degree/professional accountants and overseas degree/professional accountants has an earning gap created by the capability of accountants and employers' demand/criteria. On average, local degree/professional accountants cannot speak fluent english nor having the finger -tips accounting concepts/standards in their daily work commitments. So the salary entry level is rather low around MYR2.5K to RM3.8K for those with 3 years - 4 years. Apart from that if one is without much strong connections, he/she finds hard to get a deserving promotion. But an overseas degree/professional accountants normally have better chance of getting a job after inteview due to their english efficiency and finger-tip accounting standards or concepts in place. An ACMA in KL with average 10 years experience can get an average remuneration of RM6K to 8k per month on average depends on capability and CSR efficiency and most importantly humanity. Life Priorities

Having done 3 years abroad I decided I wanted to be back in the UK. Travel is great whilst you are on the way up or whilst you are young, but there comes a time in life where you have to decide on priorities and it's not all about work. That's not to say it can't work with a family, but I know of many people who never settle in a new place, and sometimes find it very hard to get back again.
