I know this topic may be not new to everyone. I am a technical consultant in Australia and am trying to switch field to accounting. I like th CIMA syllabus but I am not sure if it is sensible to take the CIMA route instead of CPA Australia.
Anyone can help to advise in terms of future job hunting in Australia with CIMA qualification as oppose to CPA Australia??

Hey, Im based in Brissy. Was thinking of the same issue before I opted for CIMA rather than CPA. reasoning being,
01. Better study resorces for CIMA
02. CIMA gave better exemptions for my previous degree
03. work experiance requirement was easier with CIMA rather than CPA
04. ability to get full CPA status with CIMA.
05. Felt exams were easier with CIMA

I can't tell which one is easier to pass because I have not tried either one. However, I think CIMA contents are far better than CPA Australia based on the online information.
My personal option is that CPA Australia may be is useful for job hunting in Australia, but CIMA is in growing demand.
The only issue I need to be very careful is the MRA between CIMA and CPA Australia. I am not sure if the MRA will be terminated by the time I finish my CIMA study (if I choose CIMA). CPA Australia may just terminate the MRA if the numbers show that more people taking the CIMA examination in Australia because of the MRA.
I am guessing....may be CPA Australia is trending down. So, getting extra income from existing CIMA member in Australia is good for them.
Anyone can explain about the expiry date of the MRA between CIMA and CPA Australia?
