Hi All,

Ive just registered with CIMA, I am 29 and work in sales my company doesnt have an accountant or management accountant, how do I go about getting experience while doing exams!?  Do I need to try and change company, if so any idea where to look!?

Two alternatives

Hi Kevin

Welcome to CIMA. I guess there are really two alternatives. One is to assume the management accounting role in your company. Additionally, you should also not discount your sales experience especially if it involves marketing/business planning, product costing and pricing, decision making and strategy because these are considered relevant experience. Have a look at CIMA's guidelines on practical experience requirements.

Second alternative is of course to look elsewhere for a more suitable role. You could try looking at various job sites and newspapers incl. CIMA.

Best regards
