Experience Log - stuck in a job

With the change in the CIMA syllabus it is now not possible to submit your experience log until after you have passed all Strategic Papers.

I have found myself in a situation where I desperately want to change jobs but have not had my experience log signed off and I have been with my current employer for over 5 years.  Even if I get the log signed off, CIMA have told me that I can't submit it without having passed the Strategic papers.

I have just sat all 3 for the first time and am certain that at leat one re-sit will be required.  I am feeling trapped in my job due to the experience log requirements as if I move without having submitted it, I feel liek I will have to start again with getting the 3 year experience signed off if the work I have done over the last 5 years isn't accepted by CIMA when I do finally submit it.

Hope this makes sense.  Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Signing off

I don't think you need to panic too much.  From the way I understand it you can get the log signed off for the job you are in at present and keep it with you until you are ready to submit it.  Then you can change jobs without the hassle of having to go back to your old employer to get it signed off.

However you cannot amend your record for that job once it has been signed so you need to make sure you have included everything.

I'm in the same situation in terms of being stuck but I have managed to submit all my records, I'm a passed finalist, and am just waiting anxiously for the decision!

 hope this helps

Practical Experience

Hi Stephanie,

Lee is correct, you can use the experience you have already had signed off, in future.

Once you have completed the Strategic level exams, you will be able to submit your Practical Experience record, which must have all experience to date written up, but only needs to have three years signed off.

I would just recommend that you get your signatures before you leave your current employer.

I hope this helps
