Solicitors' Accountants Report

Are CIMA-qualified accountants able to prepare an Accountants Report for a legal firm? Does CIMA offer technical support for members maintaining the books for a solicitor?

See Brian Molloy's posting

Robert, Brian has posted information in the 'Management Accounting 'section in response to the topic, "Accounting in a solicitor's practice". There are some rules for you to review. Good luck Best regards Cliff Moggs

Re. Brian's posting

Clifford,

Thank you for your reply. Brian's article doesn't exactly answer my questions. I don't want to assume that CIMA accountants can prepare Accountants Reports, as I may soon be in a position to do this work, only to find that only ICAEW accountant for example are permitted. I assume that in addition to getting a copy of SAR, CIMA technical support would only come from this forum?

Robert

Solicitors' accounts

Dear Robert,

Please refer to the FAQ on the CIMA website at:

http://www.cimaglobal.com/Members/Members-handbook/FAQs/What-are-the-UK-audit-exemption-thresholds/

It says “Special regulations apply to reporting accountants in the context of solicitors' accounts. CIMA members are not allowed to undertake this work.”

Bill Haskins, CIMA

Thank you Bill

Bill,

Thank you for clarifying this.

Best regards,

Robert
