Tax work for CIMA accountants

Are CIMA-qualified accountants permitted by CIMA to do corporate and personal tax work, are there exams/qualifications in addition to CIMA, or that CIMA accountants can not do this work.

Dear Robert,

If we have the experience and qualify to perform tax work according to each country finance ministry requirements, it should be fine.

For instance, some tax assistant provide advice or perform tax computation at clients' own risk by letting clients to sign the working papers and IRS/IRB submission forms for a competitive price.

Hi Robert,

You might also be interested in a similar query that appeared in the Discussion section of the Members in Practice Group at

Part of the response to this query says that as a MIP, "you can provide taxation services within your own competence. If you need to improve your competence in any area before you undertake the work, this will count as CPD".

MIPs and tax work

Hi,

Further to my last message you may be interested in a recent article that appeared in Accountancy Age on HMRC’s draft legislation on individuals who give tax advice.

Tax work for CIMA

I understand MIP is allowed to offer tax service to public.

Of course CIMA members and students are free from any constraint if the tax services are offered under employee status.
