Bangladesh

Hi there im a CIMA qualified living in Dhaka.

You can have a group on CIMAsphere if you want one?

Hi all,

You can have a group on CIMAsphere if you like - inside groups you can have discussions, post news stories and events, and attach / share documents.

If you are interested, I need someone to volunteer to be the group manager (you can also have group admins too) and can send through more details to whoever that is.

Basically, you need to commit to running and promoting the group, and it needs to be clear it's not just for the short-term as we are trying to make our groups sustainable.

You can see all the groups that currently exist on CIMAsphere here:

Deirdre

From Dhaka

I am an ACMA in Dhaka. I think there are only 11 qualified CIMA members in Bangladesh but the statistics could be wrong. I took my CIMA classes with Kaplan, London and worked there.

hey

Lecturing in LCBS

Wish every CIMA student in Bangladesh successful exams..........is anyone undertaking TOPCIMA?TOPCIMA is the most interesting examination I have ever been in my life. Its tough but interesting.

Study Materials

Those who are struggling to find their study materials:

I think if you google your paper then there would be some websites where you can get lecture notes and solved questions. There are video lectures too but internet speed is a problem.

I salute those who study at home and sit for exams....I could never have done that. Although its true that if you study abroad the reality is different.

Deception

Deception is the name of the game no a days guys. So when you see a good offer check it out with people who knows. Should you receive any kind of 'roshogolla' offers please verify beforehand. You have been warned!!!

I studied and worked for 8 years in London and should you have any query, please do not hesitate to contact me ... Waiting for opportunity

I completed my certificate level exams and two operational and one managerial level exam in 10 months. I wish we had a good institution in our country like Srilanka. I need good tutor. I think member from Bangladesh can play a good part to spread CIMA in Bangladesh.

To Mohammad

It is nice that you have passed all those exams on your own. That is some achievement. I have recently returned from Londona nd so dont know much about colleges that provide tuitions here in Dhaka.

But I am pretty confident that LCBS is going to be a good tuition provider. I am saying this not because I would be lecturing there, but because they have international lecturers from Ireland, Srilanka etc. countries. Some of them are already on campus in Dhaka and some would arrivebefore March.

Exam technique is something that a good teacher can teach you, not knowledge. And the key to success is not to just practice........but to practice under exam conditions. Practicing under exam conditions is the most important element to passing professional exams.

Hoping for the best

Mohammad and i have been studying together since we started CIMA. Its very hard to study without any institution and qualified tutors.

Before LCBS, many other institutions have failed to be consistent with the educational standard which lead to the current condition.

I really hope that LCBS will succeed in delivering quality education to the students in Dhaka.

LCBS held an orientation program on Thursday 25th February and CIMA has come up in an interview.

Identity Crisis

Does anybody know anything CIMA student id-card? As all of the student of Bangladesh do not study under any tuition provider. We need id-card for legal issue eg. bank account opening or any type of legal requirements where we have to prove our identity as student.

For those who are studying CIMA along with other studies or job might not face this problem. But being a full time student, it is proving to be a big issue.

Any suggestion are  welcomed.

Marketability of CIMA (UK)

Hello dear members, seeing the few members of our forum and after hearing from my sources that in Bangladesh CIMA graduates haven't been able to ' shine ' that much comparing to the other graduates of finance and accountancy qualifications, I'm not so sure about my job prospects once I finish CIMA.

However, I'm really interested in completing CIMA for immigration purposes.  If anyone has completed his CIMA/did his articleship abroad, I'd appreciate advises regarding self-study/coaching center, probability of passing and what could be done to increase the marketability of CIMA in Bangladesh.

Marketability Issues raised by Arfin

I am an ACMA and I finished my 3 year work experience in London. Cima is well known in the UK. Now even ACCA students ad,it that CIMA is harder than ACCA and more rewarding.

However conditions in Bangladesh are somewhat similar (50%) to the information you got. Being a teacher of LCBS, the only tuition provider of CIMA in Bangladesh, I came to know what other CIMA members (only 11 in BD) are doing in Bangladesh at the moment. They are well placed in the institutions they work because although some Bangladeshi companies dont know CIMA but Multinationals are wel aware of what CIMA is, specially CFOs and Executive Directors. Therefore, you wont have a problem because people who would interview you already knows CIMA....and let's put it this way, if a company (I mean their CEO/CFO/Head of Accouns/Finance)does not know CIMA, the company is not a worldclass one.Period.Why would you want to work for an organisation that isn't to that level?

You didnt say which stage you are in. But I am sure by the time you finish, CIMA would be well known. Take ACCA, it is well known but still 19 members in Bangladesh. it took them something like 4 years to have a position they have.

Although LCBS is going to start first CBA CIMA class in the first week of this month, others are in line. Another well reputed organisation would add CIMA to their existing list of courses offered....which would be a significant boost. It is a insider information but this organisation is well known for their serious marketing and if they start CIMA they said 'we would cover Dhaka with CIMA advertising' . They have already covered Dhaka with their existing advertising anyway. So dont despair, better days are coming.  [email address was removed by a moderator 12/05/10 as posting personal details is a privacy risk and against our community guidelines.
