exams passed / experience

hello,

could you tell me please - once you pass strategic level, and then topcima - do you receive a specific qualification ? ? are you classed as qualified ?

or do you only get this once you can prove you have the relevant experience ?

could somebody explain how it all works ?

many thanks for help,

jason

Hi Jason

After strategic level you get no award, you just progress to T4.

If you pass T4 but have not had experience approved, you still get no award. You are just classed as having passed the exams but have not completed the professional competency level until you have your experience approved.

Once your experience is approved and you receive notification that you have been accepted to membership only then are you qualified, able to use the letters, refer to yourself as a chartered managment accountant and get a certificate.

It does seem strange that you get certificates after the certificate, operational and management levels but not after the strategic level but thats the way it is just now.

Hope that helps

member of cima

Thanks Michael - i had been told that once passed T4 you became an associate of cima, and then once proved had experience became a member..??

how does it work, do cima send you an application for membership following successful completion of T4 ?   is there such an application online ?

thanks again

Hi Jason,

You become a member after you have passed all the exams and had your membership application approved. There is an application online but I'm not sure of what order things happen in.

qualify

Hi Jason

To Qualify/become a member/become an associate all mean the same thing. Passing t4 means nothing as the professional competency level is not complete until experience is verified.

CIMA do not send out a application for membership, you must complete this yourself. Log in to mycima under t4 part a and it will give you all the forms you need to complete (you will also have to do an extended cv without a template by following the guidance there)

You can post the application, do it online, or book a face-to-face meeting (held on a few occasions each year throughout the country). Online, im told, is a bit tricky with technical glitches, the face-to-face is a bit expensive. Posting it is the most preffered option

If you are unsure what to do, call cima and they will point you in the right direction.

good luck

Passing T4

Reference to passing T4 in the context above is incorrect.  Passing the exam is part B of T4; you don't pass T4 until you have 'passed' part A (experience) as well.

You can submit part A any time after completion of strategic level.

yes

Yes Jamie, you are obviously correct. I used t4 to be synnonimous with the t4 exam in the same context as the OP did in his latest post. I probably confused matters there. thanks
