Hi All,
just wanted any comments on the recent and now defunct P5 (E2) exam.
I have evaluated my paper, by comparison to the examiners "answers and common faults" and am at a loss as to why I scored 43%. (I also sat P1 and P7 and passed both).
I assure you this isn't sour grapes..... I'm not devastated, just bemused.
My answers in section A score at least 14 marks and easily 15 in B. (CPA = 10)
Now C..... I have nailed 1 question and evaluate 20/25 (it was a practice Q @ my college) and that = 49.
As I passed C03 that means ...I still have a 25 pointer to choose from......
I swear I have followed the examiners comments as close as possible and can't reconcile the fault.
There must be a fault ..... is it mine......???
A script remark is not available and I can't have my paper back. What can I do?
I've now taken on all the 2's.....E,F and P and hope CIMA help me understand where I went wrong.
I'm pained at having to sit through P5/E2 again knowing I genuinely thougt it was my best paper and that I knew all the "stuff"
Anyone else re-evaluated/marked their paper??? Anyone else confused....or am really SOUR?
thanks for the encouragement.....
Maybe I'm over thinking it.
Oh well ... as I've now started P2 and F2 as well... there are other things that deserve my attention - No looking back.
I am in exactly the same situation. I took 3 exams in November, came with excellent scores in P2 and P8 and I've failed P5 by 3%. I genuinely thought that was the best paper out of 3 and I had no worries about it. I took tuition and revision and I did the mock exam from which I got well over 50%.
The only explanation I can come to is that CIMA cap the pass rate at certain level...
Maybe it is not knowledge/content that you are lacking, many people fail exams due to poor exam technique.
To say the exam pass rates are capped would be ridiculous, so many times when they release the statement with the pass rates, comments usually circulate about improved pass percentages. Performances in other papers are usually irrelevant especially if you mention Man Acc and Fin Acc papers, different exam technique altogether.
I don't think there is any sort of conspiracy going on, you both were probably just very unlucky as you both sound that you put some work in.
Best of luck with the retakes.
