Nov 2009 exam answers + P3 & P6 results

Hi,

does anyone know where I can find the answers to p3 & p6 Nov 2009 exams on CIMA website?

I really cannot understand the marking I received today. I was expecting to potentially fail p6, but not p3 (which I failed miserably with 35, 2nd attempt).

Probably I really need to come over to UK to have my first ever revision course: I think at this stage home study is not enough anymore.

Writing style and answering technique seem to count a lot as of Strategic level.

Thanks

Marc

re

i am in a similar situation, i knew the answers to P3 but failed big-time.

as far as i can see there is nothing you can do (have to get over 40% for script review) and the papers are not posted online for 3 months

Administrative Reviews

Hello Marco and CB Edinburgh,

If you do not have the marks required to request a Script Review then you may wish to consider applying for an Admin Review.

Aministrative Reviews are available for Managerial and Strategic level scripts, irrespective of the total mark scored.

An Administrative Review will provide you with feedback in the form of marks gained per question attempted. Additionally, as part of this service, the total number of marks that you were awarded for that paper will be re-checked.

It doe NOT involve the remarking of your script.

Note that as part of CIMA’s quality assurance processes, your script has already been subject to a number of quality checks.

Please note that the Administrative Review provides marks per question, NOT marks per sub-question.

Your exam answer script will NOT be sent out to you as part of this service. How to request an Administrative Review

Reviews relating to the November 2009 examination must be requested no later than 3 weeks after your results have been released.

The charge for an Administrative Review is £50 per paper.

Please help us to deal with your request effectively by providing the following information:

 1.     Your full name 2.     Your CIMA Contact ID 3.     Your candidate number that you used in the exam (this is on your admissions advice) 4.     The mark you received 5.     Which Managerial or Strategic level subject(s) is/are to be reviewed.

Requests for Administrative Review can be e-mailed to: exam.review@cimaglobal.com

Telephone requests will not be accepted.

Following receipt of your request and payment for an Administrative Review, we will e-mail you to confirm receipt of your request and payment, which you should retain.

The feedback from your Administrative Review will be e-mailed to you within 4 weeks of your payment being received.

 Further Matters

In the unlikely event of an error being detected, this will be reported to CIMA’s Examinations and Assessment Oversight Board (EAOB). You will be informed in writing of the EAOB’s approval of your revised mark, and a full refund of the payment will be made.

I hope this helps

P3

I was very surprised to fail P3.  Thought i'd done fine (despite the weird first question).

I'm not going to bother with a script review or anything (can't afford it / little to gain).  What i'm more interested in is the difference in standard between managerial and strategic.  Some of my managerial-level answers were (in my opinion) terrible, yet i passed everything first-time.  Clearly strategic-level is quite different...

P3

This was the only paper I was really confident that I had passed so when I found out today that I failed with only 36% it was a big shock!

I have requested the administative review just so I can find out where I went so wrong.

Fail, Fail, Fail!

I was sure I had put enough points to pass both P3 & P6, was expecting to fail P9 but my email this morning informed me that I have failed all three so I am not very happy at all.

Now that there is a change of syllabus I guess I will have to buy all new study material but also wonder if I will be required to sit all three papers again in one sitting? Not sure I could cope with doing that again to be honest :-(

Failed

I failed P3 at my second attempt, worse mark than last time! :(

P3

I failed P3 for the third time...got 41% this time but still 9% short. Passed P6 and P9 ages ago... not sure if its worth getting my scripted review, would need a miracle to find 9 more marks.

ps - how much does the script review cost?

P3

I also failed P3, like Marco and CB Edinburgh I'm absolutely in shock with my mark. I have done this paper a number of times and I have always been quite close but for November I never worked harder to ensure I got over the line before the Syllabus change.

I'm not sure what my next move is as I so gutted with my mark and considering the work I did, I'm not sure what it takes to pass this exam

Too much to learn

Having now failed all 3 papers I do wonder why we are provided with such an extensive syllabus and a required a pass mark of 50%. I have been advised that I won't need to ever use 70% of what I'm studying! Is there not a need for a narrower syllabus with a higher pass mark. Give us a chance to pass CIMA! I don't ever really feel like I know anything as there is too much to absorb :(

Strategic level re-sits

Hi there

In response to the question regarding re-sitting all three papers again I can clarify that as you have already sat all three papers at your first attempt you can take any number you want at the next sitting (even though the syllabus has changed).

Best wishes

P3

This Risk and Control Strategy is the worst paper at Strategic Level.  I took it 10 times (from May 2005 to Nov 2009), and still failed (42% latest).  I did not have time to answer the 3rd questions (tried to get as many correct marks as possible for 1st and 2nd).  Now CIMA calls it "Performance Strategy" in 2010, but basically covers all old areas from R&C.

If I could have focused on Information Strategy in Nov 2004 and got exemption from P3, I did not have to take R&C 10 times!!!
