P09 November 2009 results

Hi guys,

I sat all three strategic CIMA exams for the first time in May 2009, studying only for P3, which I passed.  I got 33% in P9 and 28% in P6 without opening my books so I was pretty happy.

I resat P9 and P6 in November. I got 60% in P6 (which I found was a tougher subject and not what I'm usually good at) and 34% in P9 (which I find interesting!).  I wasn't shocked that I failed as that can happen to anyone with these awful exams but I was shocked that I failed a paper that I found relatively easy by such a huge percentage!  Particularly given it's only 1% more after 4.5 months of hard study.

I've requested an admin recheck 2 weeks ago but haven't heard anything back yet.

Did anyone else have trouble with this paper?  Also, has anyone had experience of a successful recheck? Or other experiences of the P9 November paper that they want to share?

Maybe I'm delusional so close to the end of CIMA but the paper seemed okay and I can't understand 34% if I answered all questions within time over 2 answer booklets.

Any guidance would be great.

 Thanks,

Lorraine

P9 November 09

Hi Lorraine,

I have similar experience with P9 - out of interest where did you sit your exams?

See note I posted on - Review of script

I agree Gareth… I sat strats for first time last May and passed all bar P9 (44%) which I wasn’t too disappointed about. Knowing I had just P9 to re-sit and wasn’t that far off I still booked onto a revision course and question based day and was very confident about the paper.

The exam itself was not particularly difficult and I walked out dead certain I had passed; I answered all required questions, underlined key words and did everything to text book and failed with a 45%!! Which in my view is worse than last time as I scored 44 while sitting for 3 papers and 45 while sitting just one paper.

I honestly do not think I could have done anything differently or better…. Spoke to college about the script review service and they suggested it is a waste of money and time as it does not really tell you anything, so basically put it down to “Bad Luck”!!

How can I accept 12 months of studying and £000’s spent on college as “Bad Luck”

I don’t know where/how to start studying for P9 again under new syllabus…. I had so written it off as done and dusted in my mind and struggling to get back into it… what if I do the exams again, get fantastic scores at college and question based days, answer and finish all questions as required and fail again due to “Bad luck”

Fed up!

P9 Exams

Same here, after passing my final Managerial Papers in May I gave near all to pass the strategic papers.

Alas, i got 43 in P9, 46 in P3 and 57 in P6.

Don't know if i got it in me to do all again. I've got 2 girls under 3 and have started a course of chemotherapy which i'm guessing is going to affect my studying. I thought i did enough to pass and im a pessimist. Perhaps work, family, illness and exams are too much at once. Unfortuntaley i can't get rid of the first three.

My specialist wrote to CIMA to request any special consideration for the November exams but i doubt the examiners glanced twice. Or maybe i just wasn't good enough.

Tough times

Sorry to hear your story Matthew.  No matter how hard you think it is you've got to force yourself to take a more optimistic view... for the sake of your health.  You have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.

You did really well in the circumstances and you don't have to "do all again".  You've only 2 to do and you can do them one at a time to make it easier.  Don't put yourself under any pressure, just enjoy the challenge (to take your mind off other things).

Wishing you well.
