Finalist terminology

I keep seeing the word 'Finalist' being banded around when I look at jobs online. Can anyone tell me what this means? Is a Finalist someone who is studying for the Strategic Level papers or specifically someone who is sitting their TOPCIMA?

Finalist

It's somebody who has passed TOPCIMA mate

Finalist

Under current context (2010 syllabus) can a student who passed T4 be called a passed finalist prior to his/her experience being approved by CIMA

when there is an important issue like the status of a student/member, it is the duty of the moderator to answer such queries rather than waiting for student/member to reply on it.

It is disappointing. This is a straight forward matter. An answer from CIMA would help students to understand their current status

Although actually CIMA have answered this many question many times:

here is a really good idea - before you ask a question - type it into the search the box, its in the top righ hand corner and then look at some of the results. it'll save CIMA and other contributors a lot of time.

Finalist

I was seeking clarification because one guy was saying that if you pass P10 (TOPCIMA) under 2005 syllbus you could be called a passed finalist, whilst another says that there is no 'passed finalist' under 2010. You become an associate member once you pass both A & B of T4.

Different opinions were expressed by individuals and I still feel that CIMA should officially clarify the status of a student who has completed only T4 'B'

did you read the link?

Planiandy - did you actually read the link I posted above.

Both your statements above are true:

1. in the 2005 syllabus a finalist was someone who had completed all the exams but not the PER.

2. under the 2010 syllabus there is no such official recognition for the phrase finalist.

I will paste out exactly what CIMA said from the link:

Roary has given a good explanation of 'passed finalist' and the switch to the new system without this term. I just wanted to elaborate that once students have passed all their exams including T4 Part B case study, they can call themselves 'Student - exams completed'.
