AAT to CIMA advice please

I qualified with AAT back in 2006 and I would like to sit e1 november 2011.  I would like to know how big the jump is from AAT. I am self funding my studies and I am interested in using Kaplan materials together with the online interactive CIMAstudy.  Has anybody done this? How many work needs to be put in for each paper? I'm thinking of studying one exam at a time and plan to start studying for the Nov session from Aug onwards.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

AAT to CIMA advice please

*How many hours work needs to be put in for each paper- sorry!

A Big jump

From my experience the jump between the AAT and CIMA is a big one - the guide on hours per paper I believe is 200 hours per paper.....but the biggest differences are in exam presure and techniques.

Its the same as anything, if you put the hours in you'll get the results - I did AAT and found it (as many do) useful but rather easy....I then completed CIMA and put in 100x more work to do so, for the final four I gave up four months to it and did nothing but study (aside from working, I mean no social life)....but I did get first time passes that way.

Good luck with it - Choose a good training provider if you can afford it/have study support.....and work on exam technique and time management from the first paper you sit.

AAT to CIMA

Thankyou for your advice Ross.  It certainly sounds hard work! I have looked at Kaplan and it is rather expensive, I was thinking I might do the four day revision days and then the one day question based day.  Would you suggest that I do this and is it necessary to do the four day tuition days in addition to the above?  Did you use any tuition providers for tuition/revision?
