Failed E1 Again

Just got my results and have failed yet again :( thinking of giving this one last try before I give up as I put in so much effort last time to get 1 more mark than when I did minimal revision :(

E1

Try not to let it dishearten you, the exams are passable - they're not designed to be impossible. A lot of success rests on your exam technique. Try to consider your approach to the exams and see if there is anything you can improve on.

I know college courses aren't an option for everyone, but if you are able to attend a course it can be really beneficial. Even if it's just a revision course or a mock exam day, it's reassuring to have someone identify your strengths and weaknesses and point you in the right direction.

....

Mate, i just failed F1 again, with a mark of 47. I'm absolutley gutted.

I've already passed E1, E2 and P1, and have booked my F2 and P2 up for May.

Thought i'd done enough to pass this one, but now its back to the drawing board, and getting the books out again, and losing another 40-50 hours of my life and £125 of course...all because of 3 marks.

Keep your head up mate.

I passed F2 and failed E1 again - i swear this exam is gona be the death of me lol

head up - we will get there eventually

P1 & E1

I Failed p1 and E1 both with 44%. Is this really bad ? hope I can have better luck in may 12

E1

Don't give up, Jamie. It took me 4 attempts to pass E1!

I was ready to throw the towel in but i'm so glad I didn't.....It's taken me nearly 2 years but I have finally passed the Operational level!

P1

I also failed P1 with 42%.
5th retake so am not too happy (previous marks 41, 43, 46 & 27)
I don't know whether to try & have one last bash in March or just completely give up now?? I have so had enough!!!!! :-(

e1

i did not even sit the e1 in november as i was not ready for it, and i had just started a new job and could not afford the time off.

i wish i had gone now just for the experience of the exam.

For E1 read all business(i did online reading only) articles & for text get basic theory points. Do maximum reading, quote/example it in exams clearly and you will make it through easily.

I watched movie "Up in air" and score five mark in E1 exams.

Questions was "What benefits can be offered to employee before they are fired!"(been let go!)

E1

Least I'm not alone I always let other exams take too much of my time and because of this I'm not on my 5th attempt at this exam. Sitting it on its own in March and have just started with the revision don't think I can take another Fail in E1

E1

All comes down to revision technique, with the right one you will find the exams far easier. Although which technique is best for you may differ to what i find best, that being said what i do is:

1) About a month before the exam date, spend about 30mins of your lunch break going through the E1 text book. Noting any important theories.

2) 2 weeks before the exam date, start attempting the questions in the text book (and in the question book if you are BPP).

3) 1 week before the exam practice doing mock exams, but writing in bullet points. There is no need to write well written paragraphs when revising. This will allow you to go through more questions. Highlight any areas of weakness.

4) A day before the exam begin by focusing on those areas of weakness answering questions relating to them.

5) Day of the exam read your notes of important theories to jog your memory before your exam and good luck :P

E1

Hi,

I finally passed E1 this time with 56%. Failed it 4 times before and all because i didn't put enough in to it. I feel that i got through this time through lots of practice of the OTC questions and then reading through the chapters and then tackling the bigger questions and answering them using bullet points as no need to write them out in full as you can save that for the exam itself.

You need to learn all areas of the syllaus for this paper.

Don't give up now matter how bad you feel as I am now on such a high having got past the demon paper.

Now to tackle F1 for the May sitting then that will be Operational Level out of the way.

Thinking of giving up

I failed my E1 twice... thinking if i shd give up? I put so much effort to it n yet failed... sigh... feel that I have yet to achieve anything from this CIMA :(

Don't give up

Don't give up belz, 3rd time lucky!!

A good tip for E1 is READ the verb properly & look at the back of the exam for what that verb tells you to do. It will tell you if you should compare, list etc....

Good Luck

And also...

Check out the blog my colleague Sam has just posted on E1!

E1 tip

I found a good technique in E1 which because of all the writing is very time pressured, was to do section A, in the reading time. It then only takes two minutes to transfer which answers you have ringed/chosen into your answer book when the reading time is over. This leaves you with 2 hours 58 mins to attack 80% of the marks. Section A is very much about knowledge of the syllabus, so potentially you could be well on your way to passing after 2 mins of the exam Hope this helps

E1 - Failed again also

I failed E1 for a 2nd time in Nov 11. I had all the MCQ questions done in the reading time (getting 9 out of 10 right) leaving plenty of time for the rest of the exam. For the two 25 mark questions I spent time planning my answer getting my outline notes together, re-reading the requirement (ensuring I understand the verb), highlighting the important points in the scenario and then writing. (about 3 pages per question) Yet still only manages to scrape 8 and 10 marks respectively. I just don't understanding what I'm doing wrong and how I can improve to pass this exam and the rest going up the levels. It's very disheartening. I've only just passed my Degree without failing a single exam (in night school as well, working full time)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

E1 Failure

Hi,

For revising, I suggest to do as many questions as possible. Practice questions against the clock. If you so wish contact INSAF college. I found them by chance and are really excellent - in terms of tuition quality as well as value for money. And a lesson I learnt in the past is - never to believe in any short cuts for success. Exam tips and guesses just have 50%-50% chance of being examined as like other topics within the syllabus. Learning and practice is the best way to pass. I learnt a lot of exam and answering technique from Insaf college which are so much useful when I practice questions now. Following is the examiner's guide to passing E1:

"Balanced trade" definition missing in BPP E1 book?

Hi everybody,

i studied E1 using the latest BPP E1 study text for Nov11 and May12 exams. Although i passed with the score of 52, i was upset with the very 1st question in part A asking the definition of "Balanced trade". I didn't know the answer and chose the wrong one, losing 2 marks. Later on i looked through the study text and couldn't find anything in it related to balance trade.

Has someone else got the answer from the BPP book? Or is it common that BPP study texts don't cover all definitions that might be examined in CIMA papers?

I would appreciate your feedback.

Best regards,

Elchin
