Hi Guys,

I am home studying for T4 sitting next week thursday or should I say I homestudied. I was however fortunate to use my friends march study kit.

Any last min tips? will be really useful to share.

Timing

Hi QB

My tip is be very aware of the time - it's easy to get carried away with the calculations. This blog has a few tips and links to useful articles.

Good luck!

Tips

Things I have learnt since the March sitting that have helped me improve:

1.  Do the simplest form of a calculation that gets you the information you need to make a decision. The marks you can gain from spending time on extra detail is never worth sacrificing the later sections for.

2.   Always allow at least 40 minutes for the recommendations section as it is the most powerful part of the report and this is where detail will earn marks.

3.  Do ethics and part b sections as soon as you have the information - they are relatively easy marks, and are often forgotten/neglected.

4.  A good structure in the analysis section makes it easier to read and the points you are making clearer. This is more likely to earn marks than writing things as they come into your head. If using SAF, use it on a simple yes/no issue and preferably not the top priority. This is because it can be restricting where a wier range on analysis is needed.

5.  Make sure that any pre-learned things such as introductions, diversity and theory, are all flexible as it is unlikely they will be perfectly relevant without tweaks and will not sound like a natural part of the discussion.

My advice

Don't start writing your answer until you have a proper plan. Do your swot etc. Do spider diagrams to detail all the points you want to make.

There's nothing worse than allowing yourself to ramble on and on about one point. Look at your plan and think "that's worth a mark" "that's another".

You are point scoring not looking for a booker prize for literature.

Good Luck!
