CIMA Website

Just a silly rant, but does anybody else find the CIMA website really frustrating, in that you have to type in your user name and password practically every other screen, even when you've already logged in, or am i just doing something wrong?

Agreed

Yep - it's enough to drive you mad!!!

?

Doesn't happen to me?

??

Doens't happen to me either, however, I feel they should space it out a little as well as apply some colour/ bigger fonts/ more graphics, this would allow you to see the various headers/ areas/ topics more clearly, at snapshot everything looks the same.

improving CIMA's website

Jack and Debs - you are right, I'm afraid, we do have a technical issue that means some links (mainly within My CIMA) require you to log in again. Our web team needs to address this by going through and testing every link and changing the ones that cause this issue. Hopefully we can do this soon. I will update you on how we get on! But please accept my apologies in the meantime, as it is certainly a really annoying bug.

Faheem - thanks for the feedback, which I agree with. We hope to make a number of improvements over the coming months. If you are interested in helping to shape the development of CIMAglobal, or simply want to feed back any issues you encounter, we are looking for more people to join the Improving CIMA's website group.

WEBSITE

Was it under passmagazine or what I forget but CIMA website was rated last but one. I am glad I finished exams, entering for exams was a project on its own. I am sure CIMA is doing something about it.

website

Another annoying problem I'm having is that when I sign into MYCIMA and then click on discussions I have to sign in again but to sign into MYCIMA it's not case sensitive but for discussions I have to type the user name in upper case.

Sometimes

Umm dats questionable,, yep at times it does happen to me ...but not always...does anyone know to which e-mail add of CIMA's are we to post comments about thesepetty things....

login issues

The case sensitivity issue with CIMAsphere login should be fixed soon.

Anonymous - we can't replicate the issue you're having when moving from My CIMA to Discussions. Is this happening when you click on Discussions in the top navigation from My CIMA?

Hussain - you can either join the group I mentioned above, or you can send a message to me directly.

Thanks to all for taking the time to feed back. It really helps us to improve the site.

Some concerns on CIMAsphere

Will this new ‘community’ website reflect a new attitude? 1. For input from executive staff will they be able to answer or contribute with facts? (I have already seen ‘political’ response – I would imagine members will not pursue if this continues.) 2. What % of members does CIMA have as its goal for participation? (Will members be given the data to see how members have participated – not cumulative visits but the number of individuals who have participated for say a rolling 6 month period. Do you think it will be over 5% of membership?) 3. Participation by members relates to the ‘fixed cost’ incurred by the Institute. Those members that do not participate (say over 90%) are contributing to the cost. Shouldn’t such information be published in the FM periodically so members recognise it is their choice? 4. Why are you going public (Have the members agreed?). This does not seem to be a wise decision. Unless there is both frank and free expression from members and the executive, surely the public domain is not the arena for ‘controversial mature discussion’ (It is none of their business). 5. Will CIMA’s motto be a guiding principle for all, ‘honesty accuracy justice’? 6. If indeed there is to be a new attitude, has Council instructed the CE on what this means and could we have a copy? Yours sincerely Cliff Moggs

Log-in and other technical issues

Adam - I have a few other issues for the list:

1) The secure areas of the site mix secure with unsecure content;

2) The billing link with Mastercourses needs looking at - my recent experience was comical.  The accounting on the finance side of the fence showed the correct amount billed, but the amount that showed up in my account was different.  It also showed up in the list of fees, but not on the statement.

3) On these boards, the text editor still has a few glitches.  A particularly annoying one is that the 'disable rich text' function often disables all text entry in all fields.  The only way I have found to clear it is to close the session and open a completely new IE8 instance.

With respect to the repeated log-in bug, I find it disappointing this this has not yet been resolved, as it has bedevilled my experience of the site every since it first went live (several years ago now!).

Andrew

CIMA website

I find the whole CIMA website extremely frustrating. In my experience you need to have a great deal of patience and perseverance if you want to find what you are looking for on the site. A particular bug bear of mine is the search facility which throws up a list of reports and articles that contain the keyword you've entered but give you no indication of what the article/report is about so you're unable to tell how relevant it is to what you are searching for. I've recently had a go at applying for membership through the new online process with little sucess. It won't let you part complete particular job details and come back to it later, so you need to have all information available to you at the time if you want to complete it online. I'm sure that it will be a lot easier to apply the old fashioned way, which is what I now intend to do. Come on CIMA - the number of lectures I've attended drumming in the importance of IT strategy and ease of use of websites, you would think that you'd have your own issues high up on the agenda.

CIMA Website

I am in complete agreement with many of the sentiments on here. I have to say that the myCIMA website is the most user unfriendly experiences that I have on the web today. This part is OK, but the utilities in myCima that are useful in what they are trying to acheive are ruined by the way they are presented and the abysmal navigation, making the whole sensation ten years behind anything else I use online. I have to enter my current password three times in order to change it (once to log in, then again to log in again (why?), then again to change it. Also, if I use any of the links at the top of the web page, it throws me out of the myCima session and I have to log in again. Sometimes i just give up, and come back another day to save my sanity.

Altogether a very poor experince. Considering the quality CIMA and its members (including myself) aspire too - we should expect beter.

Diabolical website!!

Agree with many points above.

The CIMA website is the worst website I have ever used for so many reasons...the logging in all the time, impossible to navigate unless you know exactly where to go etc

Normally I would totally avoid a website that is half as bad as this is, but I have to use it for exam entry/results etc

Everyone I have spoken to that uses it does so with the same dread and low expectation I do.

Even this forum (is it one?) is poorly laid out.

All in all a total shower !!

Responding to issues and problems with CIMAglobal.com

Hi all,

Our new head of Web at CIMA has responded to some of the points raised about issues with the new website which you have also made here, including the mutliple login issue which we're aware is very inconvenient and not a good user experience.

Detail on the shortcoming of CIMAsphere's forums

Hi John,

Can you spell out in more detail what you feel are the shortcoming of our forums on CIMAsphere - is it something about the navigation, design, functionality, etc... Thanks.

Always keen to get people's feedback on what they think of the online community. It's really useful and much appreciated.

Forum

Hi Deirdre

If you look at any other forums on the web it is fairly obvious where everything is, ie if you click on the link to the forum you are usually given a list of all the different areas with a description of each, for example the AAT forum here http://forums.aat.org.uk/

On cimashere (which does look nice) you are presented with a load of lists of latest "things".  Now, lets say I just want to look at paper 8 issues....I quite honestly have no idea where to go. And this is the point, why not just make it obvious as with any other forum on the web?  The link you just posted; if I knew the page existed and wanted to find it again I wouldn't know where to go.

Overall I personally find it very frustrating and on the odd occasion I do use it I tend to wish I hadn't!!

Thanks

John

Problem?

I can't see the problem here. If you want to see topics specifically on the managerial exams then go into studying CIMA 2010/Managerial section. Or am I missing something?

If you want to be notified of updates on the thread (and avoid having to find it again) use the alert button at the top right of the thread.

The range of sections on CIMAsphere in addition to forums

Hi John,

I emailed you this link:

http://community.cimaglobal.com/discussions

The simplest way to get to that page - as to any of the main section pages on CIMAsphere -  is via the CIMAsphere navigation bar that runs horizontally across the top of the page everywhere on the community directly under the CIMAglobal.com navigation bar.

That navigation bar - if you glance up at it - links to the following sections:

- Discussion Boards

- Groups

- Blogs

- Ask The Expert

- Community Answers

- Community Directory

I think maybe the confusion is arising from the fact that CIMAsphere is not just forums, it's a broader online community site with this suite of different content services based on social media as listed above, forums being just one component of that.

As such, the "homepage" of CIMAsphere has to reflect the latest content from all those areas of the site. It's not an overview of the discussion boards, but of the whole community, so the comparison between AAT's forums and our multi-functional community is not apt.

Alternatively, maybe the reason you haven't noticed the navigation bar is to do with the perceived distance and aloofness of the CIMAsphere navigation bar from the content below it...

We've been trying to get the amount of white space between the CIMAsphere navigation bar and the content below it reduced ever since we launched, but haven't been able to find a technical solution for doing so that would still allow us to display the text-resizing button (the "triple A"). We need to display this text-resizing widget prominently in order to comply with best practice in terms of accessibility for visually impaired readers who may need to view the site in a range of larger text sizes.

However, I appreciate this isn't perfect, and we may need to re-design the homepage in order to acccommodate both improved navigation and accessibility needs.

I hope this goes some way to addressing your comments and helps in some way. Any other or further feedback is always welcome.

Deirdre

Thanks

Well how about that, never ever noticed that navigation bar before!!

Wow, now you've pointed it out to me it is actually pretty good!!!

Best go and buy some humble pie ;-)

CIMAsphere navigation

No pie necessary :-)

Glad to have helped.

The CIMA website....

....is a mess from start to finish.  Not user friendly at all, you never know where to find things and the exam entry section has to be one of the most bizarre and frustrating set ups imaginable.  CIMASphere???  What the heck is all that about???  What does this phrase mean to an innocent bystander coming onto the site for the first time?  Why not just call it a forum, something everyone worldwide understands.

CIMA have, and I guess always will make things complicated for the sake of being complicated.

And while I'm having a rant, I'll have a go at the CIMA magazine as well.  Without question, the most boring publication none to man.  On the plus side though, it has helped with my insomniac!!!

Hello Delo

Nice rant Nigel!!

Nigel

Nigel cut down the coffee mate (that's not the milk substitute by the way!).

I'm glad the mag helped with your insomniac. Has he/she managed to get some sleep now?

Where are past papers and answers in this new site???

cant find past papers??????

Location of past exam papers and examiner's answers

website

I dont like this new website at all, cannot find anything.... couldnt before really, but eventually got use to it, but even worse now

I cant find where you go to find your exam results, etc... where you pay for registration, etc.  Must say is very very poor

Just a small suggestion

Maybe CIMA as being regarded as a professional body should consider investing some more funds and acquire also professional IT team who can make this page useful. Don't know where the difficulty is to link a certain file (i.e. past exam papers) with a description on a website. Half of your links on this website don't work!

Very disappointing for a such professional body...

MS

BTW

Forgot to add...

CIMA teaches it's students about Project Management & Systems Implementation but can't handle to change it's own home page and make it work.

Would you call this Project a failure and inability to implement a new home page?

MS

Sorry for the tone, but I'm pretty annoyed with this website

I am getting the following errors since the introduction of the new website. Thus i am unable to access the business source corporate repository or the net library. Has the CIMA renewed its subscription with the service provider?

or the fixes for the new website is suppose to take more than a month to settle down?
