CIMAglobal.com gets a makeover!

CIMAglobal.com gets a new look and feelThe CIMA website was upgraded yesterday, Wednesday the 13th of January. But it wasn't just skin deep, we've also overhauled the plumbing beneath.

The changes you'll notice across the site have been informed by feedback from CIMA member and student surveys, as well as your contributions to CIMAsphere in this board and the Improving CIMA's Website group.

We hope you'll find the new site more attractive, and easier to navigate and search.

Most of CIMAsphere's community spaces will remain unchanged, but the top of all pages on CIMAsphere now features the new "global navigation" for the non-community areas.

Elsewhere on CIMAglobal.com however, things are dramatically different!

Your feedback helps us to continually improve the website, so we're looking forward to getting your comments and questions on the revamped site both here and in the Improving CIMA’s Website group.

Home page is awful!

THe layout of the CIMA Home page is really awful. THe colour scheme is too intense. Whilst I appreciate CIMA is trying to get students there should really be a balance between sales pitching (students) current members and professional image (seems to be relegated to the bottom of the home page). It might be worth looking at the home page of ICAEW to get an idea of what I mean. Just my opion though I'm sure other people will love it!

makeover

Though it looks like a refreshing change to what we are used to, my only complaint is that certain resources that were easily available before just aren't anymore, like the Harvard ManageMentor on professional development resources, which though being signed in still prompts you to sign in then just redirects you to the 'mycima' homepage, as well as exam paper downloads from the previous diet (Nov'09) which just aren't working. Though change is welcome all I would like to see is that resources that were easily available before continue being easily accessible.

Errors and Pages not found

There are several pages that end up in errors while some others don't have content.  This is counter productive.  One has to wait for sometime for the page to load only to find that it is under construction or that either one doesn't have permission (! for access that worked fine earlier) or else the page simply shows that there is an error.

Makeover

Good work CIMA!  I think the page design looks very modern - almost 'trendy'!

One concern, nay frustration, I have though is that I am having a lot of trouble with staying logged in!  I click on 'MyCIMA' at the top of the homepage, complete the dropdown with my credentials, and then I am directed to a 'log in' page!  Another problem is the sheer number of times I am required to 'log in' to my MyCIMA - It's as if I am prompted to log in every time I so much as click on a link!  I don't know if these two problems are connected?

Also, I remember reading about there being a link between being logged onto MyCIMA and then being automatically logged on to CIMASphere when you navigate to it?  This isn't happening for me, so I don't know whether this is something that could be fixed or whether this is not possible?

So basically - really liking the layout and overall design of the new website - especially the fact that you can now navigate away from the Siebel pages, which you couldn't before - but unfortunately the problems I've been experiencing have kind of taken the edge off a bit!

Regards

Jeremy

CIMA Website

Whilst overall, the new website looks better, the functionality has let it down.

It is more memory intensive, pages take longer to load, required to log in again although already logged in, and some links notably the "discussions" returned an error over the weekend.

One would have thought that at a critical time - results being issused - CIMA would have done all it can to ensure the site was fully operational, or beter yet, test the site offline before going live.

You wouldn't catch ACCA making such an error!!

New website and access to CPD

I am unable to login to the members'  business source corporate link subsquent to the introduction of the new website. Is there any solution to fix this? The message below appear everytime i click on the link:

A System Problem has Occurred.
We're sorry, your request could not be processed due an internal server error.

Can anyone from the IT/website team help on this issue

Reply from CIMA

A quick word of introduction - I joined CIMA last week to lead the web team, and I am looking forward to the discussions here on CIMAsphere.

We are confident the new site will help us to continually innovate and provide the best service to potential students, students, members and employers.  Some of the improvements are immediate and obvious, others will develop over time.

I can only reply to some of the comments here, but I've read all of the discussion above and thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.

We have had some teething problems which meant that at times different parts of the site have produced errors. This should be much improved now and we are continuing to monitor the performance across the board.

We are not happy about the number of times website visitors are having to log in either, and are looking at login issues as a top priority. The experience should improve soon.

The design should not require significant amounts of memory - as you can imagine it has been extensively tested, but on a personal note I regularly access the site on my quite underpowered Netbook computer with no problems.  However, we will be investigating a lower bandwidth version of the site in the future, particularly for the growing number of visitors using mobile devices - when it is ready you may find that version more suitable for your needs. I'm happy to say the site performed well on the exam results days which we have seen this year - uptime and response times were good.

The CIMA website has taken a big step forward, though obviously there is still some work we have to do to iron out teething problems. Thanks again for letting us know your thoughts.

Careless Launch

Hi Rob

I don't understand Rob's excuse.  I do believe people were not careful in launching the new website - they did not anticipate the problems and just launched this new website.  Till today none of the problems have been resolved.  I passed my strategic exams on 14th and till now it is not appearing on the website. It is easy to use the word "teething troubles" - it is certainly not an excuse these days - web launching has quite matured and people have years of experiencing launching websites - teething troubles were faced by inventors of website; cetainly not an excuse for a careless launch.

Please excuse me if this appear offensive to anyone.

Exam results

Hi Ajay,

No offence taken, and I'm sorry to hear you haven't been able to access your exam results online. Could you email us, and we can look in to that for you? Last week over 19,000 students accessed exam results successfully through the new website, however there has obviously been a particular issue for you which we would like to resolve for you.

Yours,

Rob
Web Services Director, CIMA

Hi Rob

Thanks for your comments.  I was in touch with CIMA customer service over phone immediately and they are as usual very efficient - and reassured me about my results and I could pay my fee in time for T4.  I wrote an email and finally my results were restored on the website last week.  But one of my friends in India, who appeared for strategic exam did not receive the email, could not access his result on the website, received his result letter after 22nd (last date to apply for Topcima).  Though he did not clear his exams, but imagine if he had cleared his exams he would have missed the opportunity to appear for T4 in March.

I do understand people do make mistakes, but it feels good if you admit that mistake.  You chose a wrong time to launch the new website, the date when you were supposed to release the results!  We are part of a leading management institute - it reflects badly.  Once it is done it is done, the most honorable way is admitting the mistake and a polite apology and the matter is over.

I will appreciate your positive spirit.

Past exam papers and examiners’ answers

Hi Deirdre

I tried to download the past exams and answers from the website mentioned by you.  Though I could download a couple of them, link for Topcima for May'09, Nov'08, May'08, Nov'07 doesn't work - it leads to some error.  Can you have it checked and mail me once it is sorted out at [email addresss was removed by a moderator 10/2/09 as it breached our guidelines with regards to privacy]?  I'll greatly appreciate as I am taking T4 on 2nd March.

Kind regards

Ajay

Progress

I might be slightly bucking the trend here but I am noticing some improvements to the website experience. Yes there's work to do but the new CIMA web man seems to be making a positive impact.

Rome was not built in a day although no doubt people hoped it would be!

Past exam papers

Hi Ajay,

I can confirm that the links for May'09, Nov'08, May'08, Nov'07 are all working fine as I have just logged into an account to view them.

Please advise of the exact error message which you are receiving so that we can aim to get this looked into.

We await your response in this matter.

Past Exam Papers for T4

Hi Yetunde

I tried and could find most of them from my previous message.  I still could not download May'09.  I just realised that CIMA had conducted 19 Topcima exams, and the website has only 5 sets of exams questions and 7 sets of examiner's answers.  Where can Ifind rest.  I am giving below the link I am looking at  http://www.cimaglobal.com/Students/The-professional-qualification/Outgoing-2005-syllabus-exam-papers-guides-and-tables/TOPCIMA/Exam-questions/

and

I will appreciate your early response.

Searching events

The new look is not user friendly!!

When trying to find local events, the new layout is not as good as before, please look into finding events by location easier.
