CIMAsphere going public?

Hi CIMA, Deirdre,

Please clarify the details of CIMAsphere going public, in particular:

 - When will this happen?

 -  Will members of the public have full access or will it be restricted? Will they have to sign in using a username/password?

 -  Will the public have read-only access or can they also post messages?

Im concerned first of all that if all and sundry are posting to the boards then they could lose value in terms of professional input, and also be flooded with irrelevant content.

Please advise.

CIMAsphere going public

Hi Adeeb,

It's always been the plan for CIMAsphere to go public - this is just the pilot at the moment. I covered this in my first blog post on 24th April. Indeed, the blogs themselves will only be fully-functioning when we open up, as then people will be able to subscribe to them using the RSS feeds.

We don't have an exact launch date yet, as we're still making some improvements and fixes to the site, but it's estimated to be in the next 4-8 weeks.

The site will be read-only to people who have not registered. You need to register and sign-in in order to interact: to post discussions, replies, questions, answers, blog comments and to join groups. Anyone will be able to register.

However, have you checked out our Community Guidelines? There are clear points there on our common purpose, tolerance, respect, language, copyright and more... with zero tolerance of spam of course. Our T&Cs also apply to all registered users.

We aim to host a lively but civilised and professional community, and one where members get value from sharing knowledge. We're as concerned as you are that it stays that way. If you have any other ideas on how we should keep the community focused and on-topic while open to the public, we'd love to hear them.

Thanks, Deirdre

CIMASphere going public?

Thanks for your reply Deirdre, it is informative and answers my questions.

Going Public

A disaster to go public! Who made this decision? Did the membership vote for going public and therfore whose authority was sought for this decision. CIMA is a member owned body, period. Yours sincerely Cliff Moggs
