can anyone suggest me whether "the P7 and P1 Syllabus are the same as F1 and P1 and whether i can revise my old books and past papers for the May 2011 exams.

In preparing for exams under the 2010 syllabus, I'm really hoping that there is a list of past paper exam questions (2005 syllabus), organised by the new 2010 subject topics.  Does anyone know if this exists?

As I'm sitting P2, I'm hoping that with the various changes to the syllabus I don't have to trawl through both the P1 and P2 past papers in order to pick out the questions that I need to practice!

Please tell me that CIMA foresaw this problem!

the above subject is a new syllabus content added in 2010 syllabus

can any one explain what is meant by these words "non market strategy" and what are the "forms of corporate political activity"?

these concepts are related to the concepts of CSR but these concepts are not in the cima official study  system.

those students who have the latest editions of BPP or kaplan E3 study text can help as these concepts may be properly explained in these books. In my country these books are not available

I have noted the changes made to the new syllabus from the old one. The change is very good and will add more value to the CIMA qualification and its members.

A new group for students at CIMA Operational Level has been created. The group will focus on the Operational Level subjects, topics of interest, exam tips and brainstorming ideas. This group will be benefitial to all who join as participation in discussions are encouraged. Relevant Operational Level study material will be frequently posted.

I have just logged onto 'MY CIMA' to check the results (just to make sure they match the email!) after eventually passing P9.I notice that under the 2005 syllabus my mark is on there and a tick in the pass column, but under the 2010 syllabus (including the transition page) it is not on there for F3, when all the others are.

What exactly is the relationship between investment risk and the required rate of return?

I'm wondering if anybody knows what will happen if you fail one of the strategic exams in Nov 09 sitting given that the syllabus is changing?  Do we get another chance to re-sit this syllabus or will it mean 'starting afresh'?  And if so, just the failed subject(s) or all 3?

P9 is virtually a foregone conclusion for me!!!!

    Thanks

    Hi all,

The new discussion boards for the 2010 Syllabus (professional qualification) are now up and running on CIMAsphere. The Certificate in Business Accounting remains the same, so we haven't created a new board for that.

To start discussing the new syllabus and your studies for that, please use these boards from now on.

You can access the 2010 boards here:

I am doing CIMA from Toronto, Canada. I am looking to buy study material for Operational Level 2010 syllabus but don't know which book I should buy.

It would be great help to me if somebody let me know the name of books, author and ISBN and also source from where I can buy these books.

    Hello

Sorry if this has already been asked but,

I am exempt from p1,p2 and p7. With the new syllabus changes will I be able to sit papers E1,E2 and P2 together at the same sitting in May? Or do you have to complete the operational papers first before attempting the managerial papers?

     Thanks for any help.

I just wondered whether anyone could point me in the direction of advice on which modules to take before the syllabus changes in 2010. I potentially have four modules to complete before strategic level (depending on results eeeek!):

P5 & P7 (I have sat these in May 09 and awaiting results).

    and P2 & P8.

If I have all four still to do pass, which two do I choose to do before the change, and which two after? (If I have three left, I plan to do all three in one sitting).

I have seen the new CIMA 2010 syllabus and it looks impressive with new impressive terms. I am happy that CIMA conducts employers for development of new syllabus each time, I however wish that CIMA should provide a subject by subject comparison with the current 2005 syllabus to see changes especially improvements. I further wish that comparison with latest syllabi of rival bodies e.g. ACCA should be made so that in that context we may appreciate the new syllabus.

As an inactive student (I reluctantly resigned my student membership as I'm unable to work or study due to serious illness), I'm somewhat concerned about the implications of the new syllabus for students in my position.

In the 2010 brochure, the transition arrangements section implies that only students registered in January 2010 will be eligible for credit in the new syllabus for papers they have successfully completed in a previous syllabus (I started studying in 1997 and passed my last exams in 2002).  Quoting from the brochure:

I missed one of my last managerial exams due to an unfortunate family incident.

Does anybody know if CIMA do any sort of exam resit outside of the May/November sessions?

I'd planned to complete my qualification in March 09 under the current syllabus but will now have to do the new syllabus strategic papers instead.

I know it's really unlikely that this is possible but any help/advice would be appreciated.

    Many thanks.

Does anyone know if/when there will be study books available for the new syllabus?

Will there be an updated reading list, based on the new syllabus?

    Cheers,

    James
