Hi all,
I am currently an accountant in Singapore. I graduated in a local university in Singapore (B. Accountancy) and is pursuing my CPA Singapore as well.
Since joining a commercial firm (after auditing for 2 years), i've been thinking of signing up for CIMA.
I am just wondering whether CIMA will be useful in Singapore and maybe southeast asia?
Thanks for the help!
I was interviewed for an article in New Street Journal.com a few weeks ago and I'm pleased to say that the article is out today. It reveals five secrets of success for women in Asia. They apply to westerners trying to find their way in a new culture, as well as to locals aiming to move up the career ladder.

Hi
I have just signed as a CIMA student and waiting now for exemptions in Certificate level. As specific practical experience is required, I have already started looking for job in Finance about 6 months ago, however no-one replied to me. I think this is because I’m working currently as a print room supervisor what is completely irrelevant to my educational background (which is Master of Economics).
I started working in accounts in September 2007. After leaving school I was offered a great job working as a management account trainee and so I abandoned my plans to go to university and took up this great opportunity. Unfortunately in Sept 2009 I lost my job and was left mid-way through manergerial without a job or anyway of funding my own way through.
Hello all..
After a few weeks away from my CIMA studies I am finally back into full pledge again. The issue being not currently working in the field day in day out so I generally learn something but without using it everyday its hard to retain.
This brings me onto this thread. Basically I am trying to secure a placement (unpaid - I know its hard times) so that I can submerge myself in accountancy. If anybody knows their firm/workplace needs somewhat of dogs body please reply.

Hi,
so I have a BSc in Mgt Sciences, and 19 years experience in IT across many sectors, but primarily finance (retail and investment banking) and have spent the last three years in the financial risk arena as a project manager and/or business analyst.
How would CIMA qualifications help enhance my career. I'm interested partly becuase my degree gets me a few exemptions, but also because my work revolves around money and numbers along with regulatory reporting and compliance responsilities.
