What is the real difference between the CIMA and CMA designations? If I have an MBA and work in the US, will either one of these really increase my marketability? What do companies truly recognize?

CIMA’s President, Aubrey Joachim, acts as an international ambassador for the Institute. In addition to promoting the CIMA’s distinctive globally-recognised qualification he meets members, students and those working with CIMA in many countries.

A presidential term certainly goes fast. I am sure Barack Obama feels so - and so do I! It feels like only yesterday when I took my presidential oath at the AGM which was, for the first time, held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London. As I write this blog, the seventh month of my term has ticked over. It is with a great deal of pride, nostalgia and sense of achievement that I look back over this short period.

MBA Finance vs CIMA - what's the difference? Are there any advantages in CIMA  over MBA Finance? I am MBA Finance and want to join CIMA qualification. Is there any exemptions available for MBA Finance?

I recently qualified as a CA with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of NIgeria, but my first choice would have been CIMA having been a registered student since 2003 but have never sat an exam. I looked up the pottential exemptions I can get and discovered I would only be exempted from the first 5 foundation papers. Now this is not a fair deal compared to ACCA who have exempted me from all exams except the last 5 Professional papers.
