Climate Week is happening this year between 21-27 March. It's an opportunity for UK companies (small and large) to share the positive steps they've taken to tackle and reduce climate change.
They run awards that celebrate the UK’s most innovative, effective, and ambitious organisations, communities and individuals and their outstanding efforts to combat climate change.
I attended the Globe Forum and Awards ceremony in Stockholm yesterday. CIMA's research, Accounting for Climate Change, had been one of the 5 shortlisted research projects.
Here's a bit of exciting news related to some of our recent work on sustainability.
In a week that has seen the start of the Copenhagen Summit (COP15), CIMA has published Accounting for climate change. This looks at how management accountants can help mitigate and adapt to climate change.
CIMA HQ has joined the 10:10 initiative - a campaign for organisations and individuals to pledge to reduce their carbon footprint by 10% in one year, led by the people behind the recent movie 'The Age of Stupid'.
We received the following question from a potential CIMA student:
" Will studying the CIMA (ACMA) allow me to work towards a role where I can provide companies with advice on becoming more environmentally friendly? My goal is to one day be able to open a practice where I help companies account responsibly and also help them create and implement greener strategies. "
Thank you to everyone who responded to our recent climate change poll. According to the poll, 88 percent of you think that climate change is relevant to the finance team. A pleasing result and so we would like to know more.
