Hi all,
I found in doing the problems that it doesn't matter when you convert an investment into a subsidiary, the entire thing gets consolidated into the Consolidated Statement of Position, but when you convert from an associate, the date matters and consolidation must be adjusted in proportion to the months. Can someone confirm that this is correct and explain why the difference?
Good luck on your exams this week!
Many thanks,
Luke
Hi all,
I'm having trouble figuring out the F2 question in the Nov 2010 CMGA exam. All the workings are fine, but I can't explain how they came their consolidated revenues, costs and costs. There are two subsidiaries and one becomes an associate after 9 months of the reporting year.
I thought that the total revenues of the first subsidiary should be added to the parent revenues and then 9/12ths of the subsidiary which became an associate should be added in. However, I can't get anywhere close to the examiner's answer.
Hi,
Wondering if anyone can explain how they came up with an average investment of $4m in question 1c of the Nov 2010 solution.
Initial Capital Investment = $5m
End of Product Life Capital Equipment = $3m
New product has an expected life of one year before it is replaced by advanced product.
I’ve been on my travels over the last few weeks, talking to students in Poland, Russia and the UK. If I’ve met you recently - hello again! If not, read on for my last-minute Gateway revision advice.

HI,
I would appreciate some advice. I have an MBA and am studying for the CMGA exam. I am a Finance Manager and have several years experience working in finance/accounts and at strategic mgmt level.
BUT as I am in the Caribbean using a study centre is not an option so I was hoping to use CIMA Study online alone. However, after reading some posts on this website I am having concerns if this will be adequate preparation.
Some of you will be sitting the CMGA, CPGA and CGA exams this November. With such a big syllabus to cover, how can you increase your chances of passing?
The answer is....
Hi,
i am preparing for the CMGA route exam in 2011.
I was once an ACCA student who have recently changed to CIMA (really wished i had done this years and years ago), but really finding it difficult on the key areas to focus on the cmga.
I am currently attending revision sessions for E2, P2 & F2, and think that i have taken a monumental task. The reason i say this is :

Hello
I'd like to hear from anyone doing the CMGA exam (or course tutor/moderator etc) who might be able to give me some advice.
I'm currenty studying for the Nov 2011 CMGA via CIMA's online CIMAStudy.com.
It's going Ok but I'm conscious I don't have the benefit of a tutor to guide the way. Do others think this is a major disadvantage?
Hi All, I am from Multan, Pakistan and willing to start study for CMGA. If any one willing to study in group for mutual help and guidance. Please do respond

Hi all community members
I am in confusion of exemptions and need some guide please.
I am doing CIMA through CMGA route after MBA as its the shortest way i found to have an certification. My target is to be an ACA from ICAEW or ICAA because both are offering exemptions to CIMA.
Now the confusion is, i got to know that if i have already taken exemptions in CIMA through CMGA route, I will NOT be able to claim exemptions in ICAEW/ICAA.
Hi all
We have an event running on CIMAsphere until the 8th April where you can ask a CIMA Quality Partner tutor for help on the CMGA exam. This is a great way to get some free advice before the May exams!

Hi
I am studying CMGA for May 2011 (November 2010 veteran) and I was wondering if anybody had the BPP study guides (E2, F2, P2) that they might wish to share via e-mail.
Failing that, I am open to a good value deal. However, I am in Dublin.
Regards
Alan
Hello,
I'm thinking of taking the CMGA exam and I was wondering whether there's anyone there willing to sell their Kaplan E2, F2 and P2 books (Complete Texts) if these are not being used anymore.
It's been a while since I passed all my accouting modules from my MBA and I will need to do some serious revision.
Thanks a lot,
Fernando
Folks, I am planning to take CMGA (yet to decide date) - wondering anyone around east london / london area or any study group around?
Thanks.
Hi
Having just sat the November 2010 CMGA exam I wonder what the reaction to the exam has been amongst other candidates.
Personally I found it a little tricky. Q4 questions referenced 2 or 3 concepts I had never heard of and Q2 was certainly not aligned with what my classes encouraged spending time on.
Does anyone else have any thoughts on the exam?
I am preparing for November 2010 CMGA and would like to communicate, share practice and ideas with somebody from New Zealand.
