Either by completing the five Certificate assessments, being awarded exemptions or a combination of both - you've now moved onto CIMA's Professional qualification exams. Well done!

So, what now? Are you confident that you are ready to tackle this challenge or terrified about what you might see when you open the exam paper in May?

Often our biggest fear can be the 'unknown' so take a look at these tips and be prepared.

If we were thinking of offering outsourcing to UK companies for their finance departments in another country, what pitfalls or problems (legal or otherwise) might we encounter?

We already have a site set up in Bulgaria offering support outsourcing but a lot of clients are approaching us about taking on finance roles. So we already have the main things in place, Branch, location, staff, and management team.

We have a very experienced finance team in the UK also which I manage. But what things might we not have thought of?

Here's a good opportunity to make a name for yourself and win a trip to Vienna.  The Peter Drucker Society of Europe has launched the first 'Global Peter Drucker Challenge', an international essay competition for students, young managers and entrepreneurs.  As you'll have guessed, the prize is named after the legendary management guru who is regarded as the grandfather of management!

Contrary to popular belief, “best of breed” can be – and is – quantified and quantifiable. It is not, nor should ever be allowed to fall into the category of, one of those lovely amorphous flavour of the month organisational change initiatives that have such high expectations and - too frequently - too disappointing outcomes.

Best of breed means just that. With your competition. In your innovation. The way you provide service. The profits you achieve and the markets you create.

And that means numbers. Which means you.

Hi, I'm 40+ years old, CIMA qualified, with a warrant for practicing accountant (+ACCA-recognised qualification).  Been 7 years working as management accountant (costings, budgets, regulatory reports) in a co with little room to move career-wise.

Now I have an opportunity for a financial controller in a retail business, small team but fairly large turnover, SAP system being used.  It may be risky but I feel that if I let more time pass and stick to my position, it will only be harder to make a move later in life.  I may also become less marketable.

I certainly wasn’t the first person to say that great brands are built from the inside out. We admire those that get it right and we’re trying hard to achieve that in our business.
