I have found the Mentoring from CIMA to be a great invention. I wish it would have been in place whilst I was studying.  My mentee has asked advice where he needs it and it is great to be able to plough back from my experience.  It is also great to closer to the CIMA study route and syllabus again.

Female finance professionals are six times less likely than men to make it to the top, according to our latest research. So why are women still under-represented at the top, especially when it has been proven that having women in senior roles is linked to stronger financial performance of organisations?

As a CIMA student who has recently migrated to Australia Melbourne I am looking for a mentor. This is really a great opportunity that allows getting more familiarity about Australia’s accounting environment and making a network of professionals. CPA Australia as a main accounting professional body has a mentor program however; participation into this program requires first a associate membership and second a part time job at least 17 hours per week.

Current thinking is that mentoring and coaching can boost individual and team commitment in an organisation, (see Mentoring and Coaching topic gateway) but how can you quantify the benefits? For example, how do you justify the time and effort needed to coach or mentor people against other work?

Has anyone ever considered buddying up with a mentor? Any thoughts on the positives and negatives?  I'm looking for a mentor to help me get my career path back on track having lost it the last couple of years.
