I have worked for my currently company for just over 4 years - all my relevant practical experience will be sourced from this employment (which includes effort from 4 different roles within the company).
Should my practical experience add up to 48 months, then? Or should I just pick the 36 relevant months and ensure that my experience tallies to the 36 months in total?
Advice appreciated.
Thanks
I'd like to communicate the problems I've been having with this, frankly terrible, piece of online software.
Viewing a preview of your completed application is buggy and intermittent. I have to try it five times before it eventually works. I am using IE9 as my browser, but have had the same problems in Google Chrome.
Secondly, I am trying to submit my membership application. I do not wish to pay for my next year's subs at this time.

I have taught many students in recent years who've gone on to study accountancy but are now struggling to find employment. It appears that accountancy firms want students to have practical expereince as well as a piece of paper.
It has come to my attention that a firm in Norwich is offering recent graduates the opportunity to gain on the job practical experience but are charging students up to £3500 for a 6 month experience. Are we at the stage where businesses can now charge for work experience???
Am a CIMA student left with two papers to qualify but lack sufficient accountancy experience to do TOPCIMA yet. Am working in the charity sector but would love an opportunity to work in practice or industry.
Am looking for a mentor who will be able to pass on tips, advice and/or knowledge on how to get the most out of the CIMA qualifications I already have, as well as get enough experience to do the TOPCIMA exam.
I am searching for details on TOPCIMA, but can't find all that I need on the website. Does anyone knows the following:
1. Is there a time limit for passing Part B exam AFTER submitting practical experience requirements?
2. On the other way round, is there a time limit for submitting oractical experience requirements AFTER taking the Part B exam?
I appreciate your kind assistance!
HOW COULD CIMA HELP YOU MORE?
I'm in the process of pulling together my extended CV for submission and went looking to find out how much the submission fee is for this but can't find this on the website. Can anyone tell me how much its going to cost me?
cheers
Vicki
Hi
I am at the strategic level and wanted to find out if there is any way I can get my experience checked out.
Dear All
I have submitted my practical experience by post and am keeping my fingers crossed, however I was wondering-
with a postal application will anything change in mycima to give me an indication as to what status it is at?
and
what indicators will i get in mycima if i do get acma status?
I know the turnaround is 4-6weeks and i have a long wait yet but any help would be greatly appreciated. I seem to be more nervous about this than I was about any of my exam results.
Regards
Lee
I have received comments from members of other accounting bodies that a qualified management account is not really 'chartered' and at best can only refer to themselves as 'certified.' There is view that 'chartered' status can only be attained by acquiring practice experience. Are CIMA practical experience requirements of a similar level to those required of those in practice?
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could share any advice on the following.
I am just preparing my submission of my practical experience and I think I am borderline on being able to go straight from Passed Finalist to FCMA.
I have been with the same company for nearly 10 years and have progressed through the accounts department to become a senior manager.
Hi, I'm looking at the feasibility of chnaging my career direction and studying towards the CIMA qualification. I am 37 and have a degree in Accounting but went on to become a customer analyst and database manager. I am now looking for a career change and want to move into a broader more commercial management role and feel that the CIMA qualification will help me in this change.
So I'm thinking of submitting my practical experience during the Strategic level exams rather than after finishing TOPCIMA and I've noticed this:
"Your application will then be sent to two CIMA fellows for assessment. They will review your experience and will award associate membership if they believe that you have gained the necessary knowledge."
