I lost a job working in an industry based role where I was studying for CIMA. I then put CIMA on hold while looking for another job. I found a new position working for a small practice and am now considering my options for further study. I have 5 papers left to study in CIMA until I have passed the exam element. Work is fairly keen for me to do further study and I wondered whether its worth while continuing with CIMA or alternatively starting again in something like ACA. Also does CIMA recognise work experience gained in Practice? Any valuable feedback is welcome as I am hav
Hi,
I am still studying CIMA but have been producing limited company accounts for 5 years and have a degree in Accounting and Finance.
I am starting my own business to help friends / family who run their own businesses (simple entities) to do their book keeping and produce their annual accounts.
They are small companies so no obligation to be audited so the accounts only need signature from director so I am happy there. I have experience in book keeping so I can maintain the monthly accounts and sales reports etc.

Thanks

Hello all,
I currently work in industry (construction) and would like to move to practice (finance services, advisory).
I have so far passed F1 and P1 and am waiting for the result on E1. I have been told (by agents) that practices usualy would look for someone with experience in that field. This is were the vicious circle comes in: no job without experience, no experience without job.
Now my question: Has anyone here made the move from industry to practice and if so do you have any tips on how to achieve this.
Hi
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.
I work in industry and am a qualified ACMA and have been now for over 10 years! I want to start doing a number of accounting activities for local businesses e.g. bookkeeping, completing self assessment returns, VAT returns etc adding to my list as I gain confidence.
However I have read that qualified ACCAs are restricted to doing a very small list of duties if they practice on the side, and was concerned that having ACMA status might have the same restrictions.
Hi All,
I am selling my certificate level resources (study text, practise and revision kit, MCQ cards).
They are all BPP study materials which I have found very useful when learning the course. I have passed C01, C04, C05 modules first time. Hopefully, I will pass C02 first time, all I need to do is book the exam.
Majority of the resources are in very good condition.
I have placed them on Amazon website. Please follow the below link.
Hello everyone,
This is my first post. I am back studying after about ten years out and am really kinda worried about how the information has not yet sunk in.
I am focussing on E1 at the moment and just wanted some advice. I use BPP study text but am doing home study. I have read and made notes from the study text, used the passcards and actually felt pretty good about it all until this morning when i attempted two questions from the practice and revision kit. My answers were completely different from the model answers!
Hi,
I am currently studying for my strategic level exams. I work for a large, international manufacturing organisation. I have been promoted twice within my 7 yrs here but I now feel that I would like to try something different. Most of my experience is in budgeting, VAT an other tax reporting, stat accounts for European entities, Fixed assets, general ledger work and some payroll.
I do a small amount of self-employed work to supplement my income and was aware that I would need to register in practice once I qualified.
I passed TOPCIMA last week having already had my practical experience approved but was still expecting to have to do something or other to become a full member. However, I've checked MyCima today and my status is now an Associate.
Hi,
I'm finding it a bit difficult to jot down my PER - would certainly be happy if anyone would share their experience of PER while working in BIG four.
Kind Regards,
