Hi all,
I am currently an accountant in Singapore. I graduated in a local university in Singapore (B. Accountancy) and is pursuing my CPA Singapore as well.
Since joining a commercial firm (after auditing for 2 years), i've been thinking of signing up for CIMA.
I am just wondering whether CIMA will be useful in Singapore and maybe southeast asia?
Thanks for the help!

Hi,
I have just registered as a CIMA member. Was initially convinced that CIMA would be useful as it provides a business perspective. But seems that there's minimal support here in Singapore - employers seem to think it's only applicable for those in manufacturing industries and CIMA study materials cannot be purchased locally?
Hope someone can advise me on how useful CIMA is in Singapore...
Hi all,
I am considering moving to Singapore after becoming a qualified CIMA member and am having trouble working out the sort of salary I could expect.
CIMA does provide some useful salary surveys, but these do not cover Singapore unfortunately. Does anyone know if there are plans to extend these surveys to other countries?
Hi,
I have recently started to consider looking for a job abroad. Cayman island preferably but i know they like audit experience which i lack, Singapore looks quite attractive also due to close proximitiy of so many lovely places.
I am preferably looking for a financial analyst role. Is there anybody that has worked in the Cayman islands in a similar role that could give me some well needed advice.
Or just general advice on leaving the UK to work for a couple of years.
Regards
Simon
Why did I join GBC
Our team saw GBC as a good time to challenge ourselves against the best in our country as well as those from others. The competition was also interesting as cases involving management accounting are quite rare in our school and we saw it as an opportunity to learn more about CIMA, management accounting as well as the other skills needed to tackle such a real-life business problem.
My Journey to become the winner of my country
Eight country finalists in teams of four took the stage to stake their claim to being the inaugural champions of the CIMA Global Business Challenge at the National University in Singapore on Friday August 21st. The teams were trying to impress the judging panel consisting of Simon Hurst FCMA - Executive Director, Goldman Sachs in China, Karina Davies - Director of Sales & Marketing, Swissotel Singapore, Vince Cook - CEO, Islamic Bank of Asia, Richard Soh - CEO, SMa School of Management in Singapore, Ray Perry - Director of Brand, CIMA and myself.
