  • Moved from Industry to Practice - Still Study Cima???

    I lost a job working in an industry based role where I was studying for CIMA.  I then put CIMA on hold while looking for another job.  I found a new position working for a small practice and am now considering my options for further study.  I have 5 papers left to study in CIMA until I have passed the exam element.  Work is fairly keen for me to do further study and I wondered whether its worth while continuing with CIMA or alternatively starting again in something like ACA.  Also does CIMA recognise work experience gained in Practice?  Any valuable feedback is welcome as I am hav

    Anyone know where I can find some free Excel training? Just the basics, I'm thinking some sort of online course or training workbook that I can go through. This isn't for me it's some colleagues that need training but we have no budget for it.

    I have recently commenced studying CIMA of which my employer funds.

    I am required to draft up a training plan outlining key training and practical experiences I feel will beneficial my studies over the next 3-4 yrs.

    Has anyone drafted something similar with their employers? Suggestions on key areas or duties that should be learnt practically at work to complement my studies would be great!!!

    I have a possible requirement to provide a 2-3 day training course on IFRS for a bank in Africa.  They are adopting IFRS and need training for the team on the principles.  I am trying to get more detail on this but if you have delivered something similar in the past and are interested please mail me direct with details of experience, proposed content and likely cost.

    As someone working for a UK based company with operating units in Asia I was wondering if anyone knew if CIMA has a presence in Thailand and Indonesia (and possibly Australia)?

    I am keen to develop the capability of our management accountants in these areas as well as attract and recruit quality accountants going forwards.  I would like to understand what is available to these countries in order to potentially support our staff in acquiring an internationally recognised qualification in finance.

    Hi guys, I'm from South Africa in Johannesburg and I have been studying with CIMA for just more than a year, i quit my previous job because i wanted to finish the Managerial level in one sitting, passed 5 out of the 6 i wrote November 2009, now i have P2 outstanding(which i'm writing this May). I am struggling to find a company for my training and I am planning to do the Strategic level in November 2010. I'm scared that i will have all the knowledge(over-qualified for entry positions) without any relevant experience and become unemployable. PLEASE HELP!!!

    Current thinking is that mentoring and coaching can boost individual and team commitment in an organisation, (see Mentoring and Coaching topic gateway) but how can you quantify the benefits? For example, how do you justify the time and effort needed to coach or mentor people against other work?
